yes, i should've blogged this weekend, given the incredible amount of stuff that went down. and yes, i was sick on monday. that brings us to today. so before anything else, all you district denizens, get out and vote! i was the first person in my neighborhood to vote. (well, the first person in the door...some republican made it in behind me and cast his ballot first. if you've seen the republican ballot, it only has one name on it. pretty pathetic if you ask me. even statehood greens have more choices.) it felt good, combined with the fact that i finally snagged a dc drivers license yesterday. i've been a dc voter since i moved but tackling the dc-dmv is tougher than getting voting representation in congress. anyway, i'm now a full fledged district citizen, paying taxes for no representation in congress. if anyone wondered, yes, i voted for tony williams. i like what he's done for the city. and that self-inking stamp they gave me was too cool to resist...i think everyone should go out and vote for tony.

read the moose today for a nice commentary on political tendencies. while i don't agree with his rantings against the UN, it is nice to see someone point out the flaws with the people obsessed with money who call themselves republicans. this was a party founded on many things, but happened to mainly hate slavery. guess that doesn't apply to wage slavery these days.

the blue skies are back, the temperatures great, and despite sitting in a sub-basement, i'm having a delicious ham and swiss cheese sandwich with plenty of spicy mustard. i spent fifteen minutes in the sun earlier, which isn't enough to make me content, but it's enough to put me in a damn good mood. plus, my earlier life-altering decision may have a postscript. my luck seems to be turning around!

now target is coming to dc. huzzah! read this post article about the proposed move to columbia heights. finally, a place in the city that you can go to to get quality goods at decent prices. although i love trekking out to the burbs every other weekend to purchase simple items, it'd would be incredible if one could actually walk to a store like target. the entire advantage of the city as an urban structure used to be mitigated in dc by the fact that it was really a housing/job center, without any real retail to speak of. a few shops up and down connecticut, but nothing like the malls at tyson's, or even the varied shopping at mazza gallerie. georgetown comes close, but really only manages to have good clothing for sale. not many stores with utility. hopefully this is the beginning of the final stage in the turnaround in d.c. at the end of which all the scars from 1968 may have healed. it would be a long time coming...
